ACTIVITY ONE DAY 2 WEEK ONE SLJ

  1. Kia Ora, Roseena!

Well done on completing yet another SLJ related activity!
Thank you for including some great facts about Tāne Mahuta. In particular, I enjoy how you have included how Tāne Mahuta, "is named for the Māori God of forests and of birds."

To add, Tāne Mahuta plays an important role in Māori Mythology, as Tāne is one of our core atua's (God's) and governs the forest including all that dwell within it.

Tāne Mahuta measures 51 metres in height and has a trunk width of 13 metres. So it may not be the tallest tree in the world. However, this particular Kauri tree has spiritual qualities and this is often one of the reasons why some people visit the site.

It pleases me to know you have an interest in visiting Tāne Mahuta. Yes, it is quite a far away from Papakura. However, maybe when you get older and explore more of the Northland it will be on your list of places to visit.

Thank you, Roseena. I look forward to reading more of your great blog entries!

    Cheers,

    Jordan.
